Mass resignation in Iran national volleyball team
TEHRAN - Several players of Iran national team have announced their withdrawal from the national team, with less than two months remaining to start of the 2024 Volleyball Nations League.
Middle blocker Mohammad Fallah was the first to announce his withdrawal due to the injury.
Mehdi Marandi then published via his Instagram account, announcing that he will not participate in the National Team’s training because of an old injury.
Mohammad Mousavi, who led Foolad Sirjan to win title of the 37th edition of the Iran Volleyball Super League two weeks ago, also stepped down from the team with the same reason.
Local media reports suggest that Amir Ghafour will also announce his withdrawal.
The 2.02m-tall striker bade farewell to the national team last year but Paes called up to Iran team last week.
Team Melli, headed by Mauricio Motta Paes, will have a tough job in the upcoming 2024 Volleyball Nations League and the resignation of the key players will be big blow to the Team ahead of the prestigious competition.
